Member of Team 2 "Living materials"

Jan Paczesny graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Poland) with distinction in 2009. As a part of his master studies he worked in Biomedical Center at Lund University (Sweden). Afterwards, he moved to Warsaw (Poland) to work with professor Robert Hołyst in Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences. He obtained his Ph.D. in physical chemistry with honors in 2012. Soon he has been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Soft Condensed Matter and Fluids at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences. He participated in the Top500Innovators program organized by the polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, which allowed him to study at Haas Business School at Berkeley University (USA) in 2013. He also participated in short internships and scientific exchange programs, among other at MIT (USA), University of Cambridge (UK), Ilie Murgulescu Institute of Physical Chemistry in Bucharest (Romania) and KIST (South Korea). Thanks to financial support for his scientific ideas from National Science Centre, Foundation for Polish Science and Ministry of Science and Higher Education, he was able to start a working group, which focuses on bio-inspired functional nanomaterials. He is coauthor of more than twenty scientific papers, four patents and eight patent applications. His inventions were awarded medals during international exhibitions. Despite his young age, his work has been recognized and he received scientific award granted by Polityka, 3rd grade Wojciech Świętosławski award, START scholarships by Foundation for Polish Science, Kulczyk Scholarschip, three years scholarship for Outstanding Young Researchers by Ministry of Science and Higher Education and others.
