Title: Multiple photonic band gaps in the structures composed of core-shell particles
Abstract: We present a detailed study of the full photonic band gaps for the multilayered core-shell particles arranged in bcc, fcc, and fcc lattices. We find that layered structure of the particles not lead to an increase of the gap width in case of the fcc On the other hand full photonic band gap opens up for the lattice composed of such particles. The most promising is the fcc arrangement. For such ordering of core particles covered by thin shell we find three reasonably wide gaps. (C) 2003 American Institute of Physics.
